Friends of Midtown Raises Funds for Broad Street Market with Competitive Cook-Off
June 12, 2014, Midtown Harrisburg: Friends of Midtown invites the Harrisburg-area community to the Broad Street Market Cook-Off on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Broad Street Market (1233 Verbeke St.).
Maybe you’re new to the region and never visited the oldest continually operating indoor market in the United States. Maybe you’re a former customer who hasn’t visited for a while. Maybe you’re a regular customer who wants to broaden your horizons by trying the offerings of vendors you’ve previously never contemplated. No matter what, you need to know that the Broad Street Market has turned the corner and is continually improving.
Celebrating the Market’s new leadership with more positive change to come, Friends of Midtown is organizing a fundraiser for the Broad Street Market in which you pay $5 to sample the best food that participating Market vendors have to offer and vote for your favorite. Meet and mingle with Market vendors while listening to live music and sampling quality food in this competitive environment as part of June’s 3rd in the Burg festivities.
All collected admissions will further benefit the Broad Street Market’s goal to continue being a cultural, economic, and social hub of Harrisburg. Ample parking is available and the event will be held rain or shine.
Come by for an opportunity to try out vendors’ offerings to see what you’re missing from Apple Dumplings, etc.; The Cornerstone Eatery; Fisher’s Deli; Green Ridge Acres; Golden Gate; Harvest; Lil’s Pretzels and Candy Scramble; Peach Ridge Produce; Polish Vegetarian Deli; Porter’s House; Rosetta’s Chilidog; and Two Brothers BBQ.
Friends of Midtown, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt community benefit organization whose mission is to engage the community through initiatives designed to spur Midtown Harrisburg’s progress as a vibrant, clean, safe, and diverse urban community. Among these initiatives are citizen foot patrols, community beautification projects, social outings, local lunches, and family-friendly events, like the Broad Street Market Cook-Off.
